This failure mode only occurs on my AMD64 system with legacy accounts. I created a new account and all import options work correctly on a NEW account.

Just got the update installed for compiz 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu2 (karmic), I am pleased to notify you that this fixed the import issues I was experiencing and several behaviour anomalies I didn't report. As far as I can tell from my testing, all modes work correctly on my HP Compac Laptop which is an AMD64 system using NVIDIA graphics. I have performed extensive testing on the animations and they work just as well as they did in 9.04. Thanks guys for the awesome work. Ubuntu 9.10 ROCKS!!! P.S. - I have been doing testing of the UNR - netbook stuff just for fun on this system and showing off at work on what is coming. Folks are excited. Again thanks.
