Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

When trying to play a media file in totem, you sometimes have to get a codec to play it. For example, an RM (realmedia) file needs gstreamer-ugly. Totem determines this and downloads/installs the correct packages, but then fails to play the file, saying that the appropriate codecs are not available. Restarting totem solves the problem - the files play fine. Totem needs to either restart itself or play the file without having to restart.
