Bug Description

I have two problems with HP Color LaserJet CP1215 (CentOS 5.3 x86_64, HPLIP 3.9.8):
1. As it was already reported earlier in https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/388907 ,
I have exactly the same problem - incorrect Imageable area for A4 paper in ppd-file for my printer..
Nevertheless this problem may be solved by manual changing the settings (that, seems, not the best variant),
the second problem is much more critical:
2. Printing any text or images (for example, CUPS printer test page) in COLOR mode causes to filling the page background by
dark-brown-black color.

Thanks..

I also have the second problem - black background in colour mode - with an OfficeJet 8500 with CentOS 5.4 and HPLIP 3.9.12.

In my case these problems were solved with updating HPLIP to 3.9.10...

Just tried 3.9.10 here. Black background problem still exists for me.

Also I have updated ghostscript package to ghostscript-8.63-1..
I don't know exactly, but may be it will be helpful..

I didn't really want to do a Ghostscript build so I went further back in time and installed HPLIP-3.9.8. Now the test page prints OK in colour mode.

Similar problem with C309A. The background is filled with black in color mode. The other modes seems to be fine, though.

When printing Webpages or PDF files with my HP CP1515n, the background -
or better: the empty space between text lines - is black. This looks bad
and costs lots of toner...

I configured the printer with cups to use the "HP Color LaserJet cp1515n
pcl3, hpcups 3.9.12" ppd file.

When using another ppd, namely "HP Color LaserJet cp1515n hpijs pcl3,
3.9.12" (note: hpcups vs. hpijs) everything is fine.

Please tell me if I can give you additional information.
