Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-notifier-kde

I noticed that I was not getting any notification of new packages available in my Kubuntu Karmic installation.
I tried to execute "update-notifier-kde" and I got this error:

$ update-notifier-kde
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/update-notifier-kde", line 29, in <module>
    from PyKDE4.kdecore import *
ImportError: No module named kdecore

I remember that this problem popped up also when I upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty.
If I'm not wrong wrong the reason was that python modules needed to be recompiled to work with the new python distribution. Not 100% sure about that though ^__^'

I forgot to mention that my system was upgraded from Jaunty, it is not a brand new Karmic installation.

Cheers.

I think I can safely close the bug for now.

I actually bumped into this today trying to update my kubuntu-karmic (likely to have been upgraded from Jaunty). Everything's up-to-date but I still get this:

kurppa@lanka:~$ update-notifier-kde -u
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/update-notifier-kde", line 29, in <module>
    from PyKDE4.kdecore import *
ImportError: No module named kdecore
