Milestone page ellipsizes bug summaries inconsistently and unnecessarily

A milestone page ellipsizes long bug summaries, whereas a normal bug search does not.

For example, in <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+milestone/ubuntu-9.10> the summary of bug 442742 appears as "Update of 20091003 have a fraction of the translations from 20...", whereas in <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.searchtext=&orderby=-importance&search=Search&field.status:list=NEW&field.status:list=INCOMPLETE_WITH_RESPONSE&field.status:list=INCOMPLETE_WITHOUT_RESPONSE&field.status:list=INVALID&field.status:list=WONTFIX&field.status:list=CONFIRMED&field.status:list=TRIAGED&field.status:list=INPROGRESS&field.status:list=FIXCOMMITTED&field.status:list=FIXRELEASED&assignee_option=any&field.assignee=&field.bug_reporter=&field.bug_supervisor=&field.bug_commenter=&field.subscriber=&field.milestone:list=12698&field.component-empty-marker=1&field.status_upstream-empty-marker=1&field.omit_dupes.used=&field.omit_dupes=on&field.has_patch.used=&field.has_cve.used=&field.tag=&field.tags_combinator=ANY&field.has_no_package.used=> the same report appears as "Update of 20091003 have a fraction of the translations from 20090926".

The ellipsis is applied regardless of whether it is actually needed. For example, when I use a maximized browser window on my 1280*800 display, bug summaries are ellipsized at about 2/3 of the width of the table cell.

I suggest that bug summaries should be ellipsized:
* only if they are extremely long, e.g. longer than about 500 characters;
* in exactly the same way on both milestone pages and search results pages.
