Totem changes desktop layout

Bug Description

I have a notebook in a docking station with an external monitor attached via DVI which I use exclusively. Whenever I start totem, the desktop layout changes such that the desktop is expanded to the laptop monitor which is quite annoying since most of the time the gnome-panel disappears to the other monitor.

It would be nice if my desktop settings would be kept how they are.

Layout == Desktop on external DVI monitor only.

When starting totem, I get Laptop left of external monitor, desktop expanded on both

you get that as soon as your start it? is that specific to totem or with any video player you tried?

With wine from winhq's ppa, it is gone for wine at least. VMWare Player 3.0 and totem still do it.

Doesn't happen if external monitor is connected via VGA instead of DVI

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance.

I can't check this as the machine in question doesn't run Linux anymore.
