Confirming the issue here - it's because of a typo in 95-devkit-disks.rules causing the devices to get a ID_MEDIA_PLAYER property

affects: ubuntu → devicekit-disks (Ubuntu)
Changed in devicekit-disks (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Triaged

Sorry, this one:

  * 07-media-player-icon.patch: Fix stupid typo which caused _all_ devices to
    get marked as a media player.

@Chris Coulson
do you know when the fix will be uploaded to the repos?

ego-sum-deus, there is usually some hours between a package is uploaded and it is built and the binaries are published on the download servers and the mirrors.

Maybe I'm missing something, but my ipod is still just has the usb drive icon. I am using 007-2ubuntu2 version. Is this still outstanding? The gvfs fix is working just not the mounted icon.

Just wanted to note that the fix seems to work for my ipod nano but not my ipod shuffle, is there anything that I can post to be of assistance on this?

Just to note, as of 11-7-09, I'm still seeing this problem. Mounting my Sony 2gig microvault thumb drive ALWAYS mounts as a music device + icons and has the rythmbox "open with" dialog associated with it.

The device works fine, but this, to me, is a regression, as the device was detected and mounted properly as a usb drive prior to this release.

ubuntu 64bit - clean install.

Since I have the same problem here ONLY with flash drives I reported a new Bug #477976.
May be it is a duplicate.
