Bug Description

This has been happening only since the upgrade to Karmic. Suspend/Resume worked fine on Jaunty (and some of the early alphas of Karmic too).

I now have 100% resume failure after suspend to RAM. Hibernation works without a hitch. Also, suspend/resume works correctly in Windows 7 (dual boot).

I have tried a fresh install with the same result (Karmic daily 10/12/2009).

After a suspend to RAM, pressing the power button (or opening the laptop lid) caused Power/WiFi lights to turn on and the CPU fan to spin up. No HD LED activity and blank screen (screen does not even have backlight on).

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from resuming properly.

This seems to be working now with the latest set of updates (Oct 16th 2009).

I was wrong. It still happens almost 90% of the time.

After reading on another thread that it may be a GRUB2 issue. I have reverted to the previous GRUB. It seems to be working now. I'll try things out for the next couple of days and then update.

Hi Savyasachi,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 450379

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Don't know what to do about the status, so I moved to "Fix Released". There should be an option for a workaround.
