Bug Description

after few hours (say 6-8 hours) of non-stop running, ubuntu starts to hang on any operation, be it word processing or internet browsing. the screen turns a shade of grey and the mouse moves with hiccups. restarting though solves the problem. seems to me to be something similar to WINDOWS virtual memory low problem. i have 512 mb of ram, is it not enough for ubuntu. running intrepid 32 bit.

this is a swap space problem where swap remains inactive every time the system is booted. this issue is solved by editing the /etc/fstab and the /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume with the proper UUID for the swap space.

Hello nakedfakeer

Is this problem present in the latest updated packages of Karmic or Lucid without editing /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume?

Thanks
Fabio
