doesn't allow emacs23 as a dependency

Binary package hint: org-mode

Currently org-mode in karmic depends on emacs-snapshot | emacs22 | xemacs21-bin | xemacs22-bin. It seems to me that emacs23 should be in that list too.

Although not the proper way, you could install the latest org-mode package from debian sid: http://packages.debian.org/sid/org-mode
All it's dependencies are satisfied by Karmic. This of course does not solve/close this report but might help anyway.

This is now fixed in the version that's in Lucid (the oldest supported release).
