Bug Description

I can scroll up and down, and move the cursor, but selecting a link by tapping the touchpad does not work, nor do other tapping functions, such as highlighting text. The buttons work fine.

Using Ubuntu 9.10, Acer Extensa 4420, 64-bit.

Please could you attach some log files like "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" and "dmesg > dmesg.txt" to your report.

Sorry, I'm still new to Ubuntu- how do I go about getting those files?

You have to run in a terminal "cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log > Xorg.log" and "dmesg > dmesg.txt", this command will generate a copy of this log files in your home directory, then you have to attach them into this report.

Ok, thanks. I've attached the first one; the dmesg.txt came up blank.

Could you include your "/var/log/messages", is very rare that dmesg ouput returns empty.

Ok, tried it again today and the dmesg.txt came up and I've attached it. I ran /var/log/messages too, but couldn't find a text document anywhere, so I copied what was in the terminal and pasted it into a text document; Will attach in another post. Thank you.
