Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-media
My volume buttons and the levers in apps that play sound only change the volume on one of the speakers (Dell XPS M1710) Sound is also way too loud at full volume, much higher then I've ever heard before from this PC wich means distorsion and rattling and fear of destroying the loudspeakers. The EQ setting on this sound must be seriously messed up, as it sounds like the bass frequencies are very heavily boosted. I can change the volume in the sound settings under "Application", but it's only on/off. Volume is the same until I move the lever about 80% to the left, then it turns silent.
I don't know if this is a bug in the alsa, the gnome-volume-

Noticed one thing: It's the control of the volume buttons in front of my Dell that's bugging out. When I started Alsa mixer and used the volume buttons, I saw that the buttons only affected the master volume. The PCM and the LFE isn't affected until master is at 0, then those two go to zero if I press the button a few more times. If I use the lever for PCM in the alsa mixer, I can adjust the playback volume just the way it should work with the frontal buttons.
