Screen does not shut down when I close the lid on HP mini 5101

Just like the summary say, the screen does not shut-down on closing the lid.
It actually does for a second and turns back on. When I leave the netbook with the lid open, the backlight turns off after a few minutes though.

I also have the same problem on a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4074, running Karmic.

I have the same problem running 10.04 on an HP 5101.

Is there any additional information that would help this particular bug?

Same here on my HP 5101 on 10.04 and 10.10, but the backlight won't even turn off for a second (on karmic it maybe did).

It will though work perfectly when an ethernet cable is connected to the netbook!

/proc/acpi/button/lid/C1D2/state works always.

This is still an issue in Ubuntu 11.10.
