Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
Most IRC clients will let you provide an alternative nick, or generate one for you, if your nick is taken when you try to join a chat room. Empathy just fails with no feedback whatsoever (doesn't even say that it failed).

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/Bugs/ Upstream/ GNOME)
