Install CD integrity check doesn' boot most of the time

Bug Description

I've tested this using yesterday's daily install CDs of Kubuntu and Edubuntu.

On my IBM ThinkPad 600E, I can run the install CD integrity checks just fine. Yet, on my desktop system, when booting into the integrity check, my system hung every time when using the Kubuntu integrity check and about 2/3 of my tries on the Xubuntu integritiy check.

The hang occurs directly after this message:
Uncompressing Linux. Ok, booting the kernel.

My desktop system is a 1.4GHz AMD Athlon with 1 GB RAM on a Asus A7A266 motherboard booting from a IDE CD drive.

I don't have access to the particular machine on which the problem occurred, so I cannot test this anymore.
