installation hangs at screen resolution selection

Bug Description

Hi,

I tested flight7 on my laptop fujitsu s7021 and the installation hanged when the time came to select the resolution for the screen. I could see only two static cursors and not the screen size selection. I tried twice thinking that it could be a one-time glich and both times it was the same behaviour.

Later, I tried with my vmware workstation 5.5.1 and no problems ! I could see the screen resolution choice. Choose one and hurry flight7 took off smoothly.

My bug report seems close to bug report 43722 !
(I just saw this)

I also used the text-mode install cd.

***I wish to add the fact that ubuntu 5.10 works very well with the same hardware***

I tried Installation on same version, HP nx5000, and I got the same problem.

I see only 2 static cursors, can't do anything.

when I restart at that point, the computer freezes with "cannot find any system"

adding some additional info:
the installation seems to carry on in the background.

Even with the screen frozen, when I pressed Enter few times when the disc went quiet, I was able to complete the installation "blindfold" up to restart of the system

This sounds a lot like bug 127008, although the reporter didn't indicate any information about hardware, nor attached logs, so it's impossible at this point to say for sure. Feel free to un-dupe if it's not fixed in Gutsy-final.
