Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Evo froze, then crashed when I clicked in the row to start a new task in tasks - table view. Compared to the other bug reports my evo installation crashes very often but the crahses are not reproducible.
I don't understand why the automatic crash report with apport does not work. Apport complains that Evolution is not a native or whatever ububtu package.

SourcePackage: evolution
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-15-generic i686
UnreportableReason: This is not a genuine Ubuntu package

I'm pretty sure that's a duplicate, but to be sure, could you get a backtrace manually following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

Pedro, here is the backtrace. Evolution crashed when I clicked into the priority field of the "add new task" row in table view.

This is also happening to me and a few others on the message board. Did Backup when I was on 9.04, installed 9.10 clean and then did restore. Same behavior - click on add task from calendar/task view or task view and it crashes. It does save the record however.

I can confirm this bug. After upgrade to 9.10 this happens to me as well. Before never a problem. Working on task data which is synchronized periodically with syncevolution.

Another problem in evolution since 9.10 is that new mail messages freeze and evolution has to be restarted. Has anything to do with other bug?

when i click "Click to add a task", write the text and hit [Enter] it crashes (reproducibly). the task is saved correctly however when i restart Evolution.

Ubuntu 9.10 Alt x64, quite a fresh installation
default Evolution version
only 1 IMAP account
imported contacts and calendar from Thunderbird

I confirm this on my system, Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit, fresh install. Very reproducible---every time adding a new task, Evolution crashes.
