Binary package hint: grub
This is a feature request.
I think it would make a lot for Ubuntu to get away all output until the spash appear. More professional. It scares people that don't know what it means. BIOS->Black screen-

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve Ubuntu.
In Ubuntu 9.10 and above, we are using grub2 by default, which does not display the boot menu in normal operation. Your bootloader will not be switched automatically for you if you're upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 from an earlier release, but you have the option of upgrading your boot block manually following the instructions at <https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelTeam/ Grub2Testing>.
