Bug Description
There is no sound on my macbook pro 5.3 (either internal speakers nor headphone jack).
I'm using karmic 64bit.
I have checked sound levels in alsa and in the gnome sound configuration and they are to the maximum.
I'll gladly help with any information/test required if I can be of any assistance.

I had a similar problem with MacBookPro 5.5 when upgraded to karmic, but I managed to avoid this bug by manually installing a couple of programs. You might want to try with the instructions on the wiki page: /help.ubuntu. com/community/ MacBookPro5- 5/Karmic
