Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Up to date Karmic UNR system.

I've got a problem that update-manager on any action (Check|Install Updates) shows dialog with the message "Waiting for other software managers to quit", which does not go away. After cancelling there is another dialog pops-up saying:
"Failed to download repository information

Check your Internet connection"

Aptitude performs update and safe-upgrade without any problems.

I can also confirm this issue.
It started for me when I closed the software centre while it was installing some packages. I reopened it and while the software was still queued it seemed not to be doing anything.
At that point I restarted (how very windows of me!) and upon restart became aware of the issue.
As I was just messing around with the beta I didn't think about grabbing any logs (and frankly I'm not sure where I should look for useful data on this issue)
Any hints on where to look to provide something more concrete would be appreciated.

Running "dpkg --configure -a" seems to clear this stickage.

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem execpt that nothing works for me...
For " sudo dpkg --configure -a", when it is requested to Enter Password, the Terminal seams frozen, and i cannot type anything (no letters, no numbers, no signs, no copy/past, nothing....) Difficult in this condition to enter the password and continue the procdure.

Any one have a clue please ?

Thanks
