Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

On the Karmic beta Minimal CD, One is unable to change partition type. If the partition is marked 'do not use', one is unable to change it. If the partition is to be newly created, one is unable to change it from the default EXT4. Hitting 'enter' on the menu option of partition type causes partitioner to flicker and not do anything else apparent (instead of giving a menu of partition types).

This behaviour does not manifest on the alternate installer CD.

On further reflection, it's possible that this problem is the same problem as manifest in #362361, as 'do not use' is a partition type.

I can confirm this bug (with alternate daily for amd64 as of today). It is impossible to create a swap partition with manual partitioning.

it does; I did my tests with the alternate CD

To be more specific, it worked on the 'official' beta alternate CD for me. Perhaps the minimal uses a different (newer?) version?

Thanks for your report. I fixed this today as bug 444804.

(Luc: The relevant distinction is not between alternate and minimal, but between beta and stuff-later-than-beta, specifically partman-target 64ubuntu1 and 64ubuntu2 which were broken.)

... and the reason you saw it with the beta minimal CD is that it gets many installer components from the network, and so was fetching newer components.
