Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Downloaded the mini.iso of Karmic Beta from http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/karmic/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso

md5sum:
72ea47d2376c76c0e5678a16032b1666 mini-ubuntu-karmic.iso (renamed the file, since I have all the mini.iso's from dapper to karmic).

Installed mini.iso inside a vm, just booted from CD (didn't type anything, just hit enter).
Did the manual package selection, selected nothing, then quit aptitude.

It installs a "few" packages, 420 in total.
On closer inspection it installs openoffice packages. Why would a cli like system require openoffice? I did not ask for it :)

Please see the karmic-mini.list for dpkg --get-selection list of packages.

I can confirm this. The same happens for me.

Changed in debian-installer (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
summary: - minimal installation installs openoffice packages with minimal install
+ mini.iso installs openoffice packages for cli systems

Same for me. I've installed it in two physical computers and each one installs the OpenOffice suite. Is there a list of "what to auto-install" that I can modify? This is rather annoying.

This seems to be happening during the language pack installation.

The "language-pack-gnome-en-base" package is selected and it suggests the "language-support-en" package which in turn depends on "language-support-writing-en". The "language-support-writing-en" package depends on some OpenOffice packages.

I've attached the syslog created during the install.

Can also confirm it, open-office should not be installed by default in the mini.iso.
