Bug Description
Binary package hint: indicator-session
Currently, the applet allows the user to change its IM status even when Pidgin/Empathy is closed, but changing from "offline" to any other state will not make the app open. This is inconsistent. I believe the expected behavior in this situation would be either to make the app open or to make all options other than "offline" grayed out.
Since there's no way, in the first case, to figure out the correct procedure if the user has Pidgin AND Empathy installed, I suggest following the second suggestion.
