Bug Description

I have a Cybercom MD95580 laptop with a Intel Pro/ Wireless 2200BG, this wlan card should work out of the box, and i my case it seems to do that but: I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 Beta, and upon the first bootup i went directly to the network manager, it had already found the neraby networks and i chose my own an enterd the password. It connected properly and i got a signal strength of 83% just like in Ubuntu 7.10. However firefox , updatemanager or synaptic cant get any contact through this connection and times out, If i plug in the network cabel everything works just fine.

Im using WPA2 TPIK encryption on a 3COM 3CRWDR300B Router/ADSL2 Modem and i can see my laptop in the routers client list, with the right mac adress, ip adress and everything.

I have found the problem.

The network manager? cant handle the "WPA/WPA2 Mixed mode " that the router offers, when i set it to pure WPA or WPA2 with TKIP encryption the connection started to work.

Until someone fixes this problem my only advice is to not use the "WPA/WPA2 mixed mode".

UPDATE:

After i changed the encryption to WPA2 TKIP, i did a lot of testing with updatemanager and other apps and it worked, i then tried to reboot to check if the positive result was valid, it was not. Now it`s acting like it did before i changed the WPA mode, everything seems to work but i cannot ping or get contact with the router even thou the connection itself seems strong and stable.

So the problems still persists.

I have this card on my IBM ThinkPad T42 laptop. And I can't get it to work at all. In network manager it says that Wireless network is disconnected, and dmesg | grep ipw gives a lot of repeating error: Firmware error detected. Reseting.
I have ipw2200 firmware installed, so it is not the problem in lack of firmware. :)

@Zandro: Have you tried loading the driver module with different parameters? Do "modinfo ipw2200" to see parameter names.
