Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

Using Karmic Beta
Empathy 2.28.0-0ubuntu2

I expect the service to remain connected. Instead, I get frequent (sometimes up to 10 times an hour) disconnects from the AIM services. My other computer running Pidgin did not get this many disconnects, if any.

we have been wondering if you still face this problem. Is this specific to only one protocol or you face this in every account you are connected? Because people have been facing this type of problems for specific protocols. and if you have this problem on all protocols than this can be a problem of you network? Please help us resolve this problem and making ubuntu better. Thanks in advance.

I'm seeing this problem as well, except for me empathy will connect and then disconnect immediately. This doesn't happen for any other protocals.

Hi. If you are still using Karmic, please download and update libpurple0 from my ppa at https://edge.launchpad.net/~bcurtiswx/+archive/ppa and see if that solves your problem.

@Brian:

To answer your question, running an update with your ppa installed resolved the AIM network issue on my system immediately.
