Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Regression bug in 9.10 beta. Dell Inspiron 510m freezes when lid is closed. It worked fine on previous ubuntu versions.

I assume this is not a problem with suspend, but rather key/event handling. Suspend works fine if I press "suspend" key combination (Fn+Esc) on keyboard. However, closing notebook lid always freezes the notebook and I have to switch it off "the hard way" (press power button and keep holding it).

This bug is especially annoying when I start shutdown sequence and then close the lid before notebook is switched off.

After reading ubuntu 9.10 release notes, I think this is a problem of DeviceKit-power, not gnome-power-manager.

affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) → devicekit-power (Ubuntu)

Also I have the same problem.

Obviously there is no proper way to disable "lid close action" on the Dell 510m.
Is there any known workaround? Please let me know.

Seems to be fixed in current 10.10 (with 2.6.35-22-generic kernel). Closing notebook lid correctly puts notebook to sleep.
