I should have mentioned that I think the bug is the way the error was displayed, not necessarily that the error occurred.

Thanks for your bugreport.

What does "apt-cache policy ubuntuone-client ubuntuone-client-gnome" show?

Changed in software-center (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Medium
milestone: none → ubuntu-9.10

The issue here is most likely that a package from the normal archive is also avaialble in a PPA as well and libapt/aptdaemon picks the one with the highest version. We can do (in order of difficultiy):

- error
- error in a nicer way
- hide the package entirely
- try to pick a package form a official repo instead (hard because all sorts of dependency issues come into play)

This is now fixed in aptdaemon by presenting a better (still not perfect) error message from aptdaemon. This needs further adressing in luicid.

Changed in software-center (Ubuntu):
status: Confirmed → Fix Released

Just encountered this error, it would also not allow me to check sources for Update manager. I found that in Software Sources->Other sources, unchecking 'Karmic Partner' would keep it from occurring.
