unknown program preventing logout/shutdown

Binary package hint: xsplash

Appeared relatively recently.
Shows an untitled window on first login between the gdm and desktop, once panels have appeared but before appearance of background etc.
It does not show during session but prevents shutdown/logout etc.

This is not an xsplash problem. This happens problem predates xsplash.
