Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

The update manager keeps bugging me to update Open Office, but when I do the update, it fails. No matter if I empty the cache and download the files again, always the same.

This is what I get with dpkg:

Unpacking replacement openoffice.org-calc ...

Could you open a terminal window and do the following:

dpkg -c var/cache/apt/archives//openoffice.org-calc_1%3a3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb

Does that command output any error message?

You said you empty the cache. Did you do it by running "apt-get clean"? If not, could you try that, too.
Did you reboot after trying to upgrade?

Also, could you add to this bug report the output from this command:

md5sum /var/cache/apt/archives//openoffice.org-calc_*

Here goes:

cryptolemur@monkeybox:~$ sudo dpkg -c /var/cache/apt/archives//openoffice.org-calc_1%3a3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
dpkg-deb: subprocess tar returned error exit status 2

cryptolemur@monkeybox:~$ md5sum /var/cache/apt/archives//openoffice.org-calc_1%3a3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb
e495d61e6167516ca3954c68cd1daced /var/cache/apt/archives//openoffice.org-calc_1%3a3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb

I did run "apt-get clean" (several times) but I did not reboot. I also changed the Finnish repository to the main, just for the heck of it. The problem still exists.

Ok, finally figured out this was due to 'wrong' version of lzma (9.07). Seems to be incompatible with (some?) deb packages.

After making sure lzma 4.43 is used, everything works great!
