Bug Description
Binary package hint: mplayer-nogui
mplayer-nogui tries several different video outputs when playing a file in Karmic. Eventually it finds xv as would be expected.
The order I see is mga, tdfxfb, 3dfx, then xv.
Here is the output:
open: No such file or directory
[MGA] Couldn't open: /dev/mga_vid
open: No such file or directory
[MGA] Couldn't open: /dev/mga_vid
[VO_TDFXFB] Can't open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory.
[VO_3DFX] Unable to open /dev/3dfx.
[VO_XV] Could not grab port 280.
...
VO: [xv] 512x384 => 512x384 Planar YV12
It works fine, but presumably this is not the correct order.

My /etc/mplayer/ mplayer. conf may be the source. It has a vo entry, with the wrong order. It isn't the one that shows up though.
File is attached.
