Bug Description
I recently upgraded to Dapper and Ubuntu kernel linux-image-
I had to run alsamixer (which then surprised me with channels I hadn't seen before). The new channels were muted. As soon as I unmuted the new channels (in my case it was the "Surround" channel) I was good to go.
Note that the asla init script complained before I went into alsamixer:

I don't know what the "right thing" to do is to fix this, other than perhaps a note on the wiki for Dapper upgraders--would it be safe to unmute channels that appear on kernel upgrades? It's a bug in alsactl restore, as far as I'm concerned (and has consistently caused heartache on every major alsa upgrade).
