Bug Description

Hi Guys,

first of all I'm not sure if there is really a bug so if not feel free to close the report - anywhere if it's not a bug it's maybe a hint.

my System was running on Mythbuntu 9.04, I'm using two Technisat Skystar HD2 with the liplianin-s2 drivers and it worked without problem (Kernel is there 2.6.28). Not I tested Mythbuntu 9.10 Alpha 6 which ships with Kernel 2.6.31-rc9 (I guess?).
And using the same drivers (liplianin-s2) and the same procedure -even the make and make install are running without problems, but there is now DVB card shown up on the mythtv backend setup (in 9.04 with the liplianin-s2 installed there was).

What I found by google - a guy usind vdr had the same problem (or a kind of the same) - Unsing Kernel 2.6.28 the liplianin-s2 is kompiling under 2.6.29 not anymore.

Best regards, Nico.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 440117

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Thanks in advance!

Yesterday I tried to compile the s2-liplianin driver under Mythbuntu 9.10 - without success - the problem persists.

The Bug is resolved - I found the solution in some threads:

First I needed to install the package libncurses5-dev course it's missing

sudo apt-get install libncurses5-dev

Then I needed to unchoose the module Firedtv/Floppydtv using

sudo make menuconfig

then

Multimedia Support -> DVB/ATSC Adapter -> Firedtv/Floppydtv

After that the driver compiles as before :-)

Many thanks to Eishailiga und the other guys in the thread!

Hi gocin,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 440117

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
