update or upgrade does not appear to use network proxy setting from System/Preferences

Binary package hint: update-manager

In Karmic Alpha6 upgraded, when I try to verify or upgrade packages from 'update-manager', the proxy settings is ignored. Whereas it works with Synaptic or with apt-get from CLI.

Before alpha6 it was running !

This also applies to Ubuntu Software Store. Don't know if it should be a separate bug or not.

I found a solution that now work for me.
You have to apply the proxy settings "System wide" on Proxy Settings window and then apport, software center and update-manager use the proxy.

Try this.

I tried that one initially and it doesn't make a difference to me. I have to use Proxy Authentication and it returns 407 errors when trying to do anything in these bits of software.
