origami status constantly shows 'no work units have been assigned yet'

Bug Description

0.7.1 now shows 'no work units have been assigned yet' when checking the status previous to having any assignments. this notice does not disappear after progress begins.

I have the same problem with version 0.7.1.6, its been running for about 2 hours and hasnt started processing.
claims "No work units have been assigned yet. Please check status again later."

ignore this after a origami stop/start everything works
