Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

On demand and conservative and powersave are there for laptops I thought.

No wonder my pc has seemed sluggish. Since I delved into cpu freq scaling and saw the difference between the default and performance.

Surely a desktop pc can be detected and the governor set to performance. Laptop-mode gets installed as default so is the bug there?

Bug #343354 states that it's the opposite - performance is default even though people want ondemand.

Hi philinux,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Can you explain how the upstream kernel will solve this. I though the settings we held in system files similar to /etc/init.d/ondemand
