Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

It crashes when I make a "save calendar modification", during mail downloading.
It happens very often, so I hope You can reproduce it.
Thanks.
---
After it crashes I see on console: Segmentation fault

And when I launch it again:

kfmclient(5941) ClientApp::doIt: Creating ClientApp
Launched ok, pid = 5945

I hope this may helps.

Hi.
I upgraded Thunderbird with the package of kubuntu distribution (8.10 -> 9.04); of course I've added some other extensions from web, but with this release of Thunderbird, it seems as the lightning extension comes natively and can only be actived or de-actived, but not removed (or it's impossible on my upgraded package...).
Do You think it's a bug from "upgrade"?
Thanks a lot.
Cheers.

Lightning does NOT come installed in thunderbird nor in Ubuntu by default you have added it at one point and kept profile left over. Please post the output of the following:

apt-cache policy lightning-extension libstdc++6 libstdc++5 thunderbird-2.0 thunderbird-3.0

did you download thunderbird-3.0 from mozilla site. also did you install lightning from mozilla site?

Hi John.
I've tried to force upgrade of lightning into extension manager of thunderbird.
It says me that lightning isn't upgradable, because installation is onto a read-only file system, but it isn't!
The user owner of that directory, has all permissions. Only group and others have r+x as permissions.

Do You think this may helps?
Thanks.
Cheers.

- again lightning isn't removable, only deactivable
- the new profile takes with itself lightning as I said You

Hi John.
During all my tests, I've saw a difference between versions of lightning:

generally I see into "thunderbird added components", that it's 2008091718 (build).

But if I force installation of lightning component, web downloaded, it has build 2009040813.

Which one is, in Your opinion, the right one?
Thanks a lot.

Cheers.

the one you got from upstream is more than likely 1.0 not 0.9.
my suggestion is to wait for me to package 1.0. At this time
there is a problem with mozilla-devscripts that needs to be
addressed before i can package 1.0 since sunbird may never
reach a version higher than a beta.

I am still unable to reproduce this bug so i have a feeling it
is a local problem more than a packaging problem
