Bug Description

On an old PC:
P3 450 mhz
soyo mobo with i440bx2
192 MB of ram
riva tnt2 16 MB
creative PCI 128

- open ubiquity
- click next
- choose ITA (with english all works well)
- click next, after loading something from the cd it freeze

after freeze with Kubuntu the free memory in unionfs is 78/647 MB, in Ubuntu 81/657 MB.
Both freeze during loading step 3, step 2 remains visible!

freeze: no mouse activity, no keyboard activity, none!
I tried kubuntu and ubuntu flight-7 so it isn't related to the gui I think.

In this image you can see the last thing in /var/log/syslog (have to zoom)

With my pc (Athlon 64 3000+, 1 GB of ram) italian language works ok.

If you don't have swap set up, then it is bug 43071.

Have you ever installed Linux on this machine?
If you did, you should have "swap" partition on disk.
If not, you don't have swap :)

Fix has been uploaded by Colin Watson, which should help with smaller amount of memory. Please try daily live CD snapshots or wait for next flight release (flight 8 or beta).
