Missing bootloader for XFS installs

Bug Description

If the fs of / is xfs, the installer doesn't install a bootloader but complains that there's none available for this system. Changing the FS to ext3 correctly installs grub.

Correct behaviour would be to give warning if XFS is selected in the installer *and* to try LILO instead of grub. Maybe its also sensible to check whether there are still problems with grub and XFS at all, as it works perfectly here.

Ok, apparently this was caused by selecting XFS as filesystem. With ext3 it worked fine.

Why didn't the installer warn me when I selected XFS, and why didn't it try LILO after (silently) not using grub?

Could you attach /var/log/installer/syslog to this bug, please?

Here's the syslog from the second (successfull) install. The log of the first install got overwritten when I reinstalled.

I'm afraid that second syslog is no use to me. Perhaps somebody else has the same problem and can provide a log.

Ah, reproduced. Looks like it's just a syntax error in lilo-installer.isinstallable; I'm testing the fix now.

  * Fix syntax error in isinstallable script (closes: Malone #43820).
  * Add a collection of nasty little hacks to make the postinst work with
    non-devfs partition names.
