Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde-systemsettings

I go to System Settings, then click on Users & Groups. When I hit Administrator Mode, the screen goes grey with the appropriate red border but no password dialog appears.

Another user on my system can use the admin mode with no problem. I belong to the following groups:
ejfiii adm disk dialout cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev lpadmin scanner admin media

While the other user belongs to:
kate adm dialout cdrom floppy audio dip video media

kdesu is running but apprantly something goes wrong along the way:

ejfiii 32365 4.6 2.4 68612 37564 ? S 08:08 0:02 systemsettings -caption System Settings -icon systemsettings -miniicon systemsettings

ejfiii 32457 1.0 0.7 24980 11680 ? S 08:09 0:00 /usr/bin/kdesu --nonewdcop -n -d -iuserconfig.png kcmshell System/userconfig --embed-proxy 33555631 --lang en_US

Thank you for filing this bug. Does this still happen for you on Edgy or Feisty?
Sounds like a config problem with your user account.

Same thing here. I'm using Feisty. This doesn't happen every time. It usually helps if i restart systemsettings and try again. If i do "sudo systemsetting" from konsole this never happens, but i get this error in konsole: "

  Minor opcode: 3

despite this error it works perfectly.

On tribe 5 this seems not to be an issue after kdesudo replaced kdesu.

Marking "Fix Released", because it's likely a duplicate of bug 50971 and appears to be fixed for Gutsy.
