when eject a dvd take it out cant eject again until x restarts

I am using the ubuntu karmic koala

i have a problem with dvd rom drive.

i eject a dvd and take it out, and close the draw i cant reopen the draw until i either restart (fully) or restart x server.
when i goto places computer and then right the cd/dvd drive and click eject get message no media in drive.

i have even tried unmounting it first and still get same problem.

There is a similar bug on my computer. What priority does it have? Does it have something in common with kernel? Does anyone need more information about the issues we encounter?
