firefox hangs at specific pages

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Going to certain sites seems to cause FF 3.5 to hang indefinitely.
The easiest one of these to demonstrate is http://acs.lbl.gov/Akenti/codeDocs/libsrc/OpenSSLPrivateKeyImpl.html,
which has a java applet that may be the source of the problem; however, several of my other users are
reporting similar issues on other sites and I cannot confirm that they have java applets.

So far, the only resolution seems to be to kill firefox from the terminal, as clicking the "x" simply causes it
to display a blank window with no options.

Another page to test out the FF locking problem is on washington post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/04/AR2007040401721.html

FF recovers after a while (once the page is completely loaded), however, it is completely unusable in the meantime.
