The kernel reports an ACPI warning. Can it be related to this issue?

I wanted to update the description above but I always get "Entity-body was not a well-formed JSON document."

The text that I wanted to add:

Resume doesn't happen: screen is blank and it seems that the CPU is busy, because the fan runs full speed and blows out very warm air.

Forcing power off by holding the power button doesn't help. I have to detach the power cord and pull out the battery for a while to be able to start the computer again.

with which I have very similar issues, when it comes to power saving modes.

As with the 2 previous distribution versions, Suspend and Hibernate don't work at all here in a usable way :-(

Suspend seems to become engaged (mostly ends with flashing power LED) but trying to resume, the notebook mostly seems to wake up OK, but never actually enables the graphics output again. The LCD screen and/or an external CRT always remain dark/powered off, requiring a reboot in order to break it lose.

Trying to use Hibernate, the HDD is showing activity for quite some time, just as expected, then the system shuts off, but at the next start-up, just an ordinary reboot happens, rather then using the RAM data from the previous session, which should have been stored onto the HDD.

Since I'm still a very beginner with *nix (I come from OS/2), you need to let me know, how I can produce additional information, if desired.

Hi Matej,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 437323

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

On my Cpq Presario 906US things with Lucid also are pretty much unchanged in respect to hybernate/suspend.
The first still locks up the system for good, while the latter shuts down as expected with a lot of HDD activity, but at next restart there is only a normal boot-up, but not a proceding from the prvious state, supposedly gotten stored on disk.

Additionally, Lucid now introduced a new bug, by no longer supporting my Ralink RT2780 based 802.11n USB WiFi adapter - and I'm not talking about the still faulty, infamous loading of the RT2800usb driver in addition to the correct RT2870sta one, which was first introduced with Karmic - preventing any online activity (like bug reports) for me with Lucid.
