Breezy to Dapper distribution upgrade fails

Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I tried to do a distribution upgrade using the command:

gksudo "update-manager -d"

It displayed a Dapper Upgrade button which I clicked. Everything seemed to go OK until the start of the third part. It displayed a confirmation dialog. I clicked the Upgrade button. It aborted and displayed a fatal error dialog and asked me to report a bug.

I have attached my terminal session, the messages from the error dialog, and the log files requested in those messages.

After attaching the log files I repeated the upgrade command and it failed again in exactly the same way.

I uploaded a new dist-upgrader_20060509, it should be available in 3-4h. I would appreciate if you could give it a try then :)

I reran the upgrade after your change. It worked correctly. :-)

I had one error during the upgrade; evolution-alarm-notifier quit unexpectedly. I posted an evolution bug report as requested.

Thanks for the good work. So far Dapper looks very nice.

Thanks, good to hear that it worked well.

Did it ask you to insert a cd during the upgrade btw (this codepath had the error earlier)? Could you also please attach your /var/log/dist-upgrade*.log to this bugreport? I would like to review them to see how it behaves in the real-world :)

Yes, it did ask me to insert my Breezy CD at the beginning of the download process, though I don't think it accessed the CD at all.
