Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
$ uname -a

$ apt-cache policy gdm

Now gdm background differs from xsplash, although gdm session placed between two xsplash sessions. Moreover, I don't like default backgrounds since jaunty, so my desktop background differs from both of them (and I think it's common case). Please, change gdm background to something like xsplash background (or remove xsplash at all, what for does it need? It shows nothing)

Actually I have always wondered why a total of 3 different backgrounds is needed: images/ xsplash/ bg_2560x1600. jpg. background/ warty-final- ubuntu. png.
1. xsplash
2. gdm
3. xsplash again
4. x (desktop)
It looks way better if only one background would be used (at least in case of a single user setup).
I changed the backgrounds of xsplash and gdm with the one I am using on my desktop (x).
I did this by changing the file names to the original ones. This way the background does not change at all, xsplash and gdm's greeting window both appears on top of them, nicely.
The xsplash background is here: /urs/share/
The gdm background is here: /usr/share/
