Bug Description
My packaging system is all gung-ho to remove ubuntu-artwork from my
system. Ubuntu-desktop does not depend on ubuntu-artwork. Please can we
restore some sort of dependency there?

Hmm. I've gone back through history, and ubuntu-artwork was never a direct dependency of ubuntu-desktop (there's no mention of it at all in the seeds, unless it was before the Warty release). gdm depends on ubuntu-artwork | edubuntu-artwork | xubuntu- default- settings, which is how this gets pulled in. Do you perhaps have one of the others installed?
I can see an argument that we should add ubuntu-artwork to ubuntu-desktop now that the derivatives are doing this ...
