indicator-applet-session doesn't seem tied into empathy

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

The indicator-applet-session applet doesn't reflect my empathy connection status and doesn't let me change my status in its menu (everything related to empathy is grayed out). I assume this is supposed to work.
