Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

First things first :
I know that flash isn't free software and Ubuntu's devs can't fix it.

Description :
On karmic koala 64 bits with 10.0.32.18ubuntu1, youtube plays well but the mouse events won't have any effect.
For instance pausing, resuming or full screen options do not work.
This can happen on several other websites, I don't know what are differences between the flash apps that will cause this problem.

I don't know if other users can report the same issue, but if some do please consider replacing the flashplugin-nonfree 32 bits version and its dependencies with the prerelease 64 bits package available at

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/libflashplayer-10.0.32.18.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz

To make flash available for firefox, it is only required to extract the library in ~/.mozilla/plugins/.
This seems to fix the problem regarding youtube and dailymotion.

Best Regards,

Lucas

This problem is highly annoying. All mouse clicks are ignored which means no pausing, hitting full screen buttons etc.

The workaround described worked for me after I also uninstalled flash via synaptic. If it hadn't worked I would be switching back to Jaunty - yes it matters that much.

I spoke too soon. It works for youtube but the browser hangs for hulu. Reverting to Jaunty now until this issue is fixed.

I have exactly the same problem. After upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic Alpha 6, still in Karmic Beta. Many flash games are working fine, but most of video players are not (youtube, vimeo, etc). Problem is strange, because sometimes youtube player works fine, but only if it is embedded in other page (facebook, for example).

When LMB is not working I can click RMB somewhere on flash app, and then LMB on selected button - it take desired action, but only for one time. I's really annoying.

I have the same problem. I just discovered some useful keyboard shortcuts for youtube:

<space>: pause/play
<right arrow>/<left arrow>: skip forward/back
<F>: fullscreen
<ESC>: leave fullscreen

Hope this helps.

i have this issue on karmic beta with daily updates. Did not have it for last few days, but I guess some new updates have caused this?
not only youtube, it also affects facebook videos and most facebook videos don't even play completely (play fine on IE in winxp). No errors when firefox is run from terminal and this problem is present with opera and google chromium too.
