Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

The package and version I found the bug in: amarok - 2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3 (amd64)
The release of Kubuntu I'm using: Kubuntu 9.04
What I expected to happen: Amarok would play my music, and rescan my collection periodically for new content.
What happened instead: Amarok rescans my collection every 30 seconds or so, reaching 96%, pausing and giving up. It then continues a few seconds later from 0%. While it does this, it consumes 100% of my CPU. Each time it gives up scanning at 96% it makes the OSD pop up and display the currently playing track. Even if the music is stopped, the OSD will pop up every so often.

I have checked ~/.kde/share/apps//amarok/collection_scan.log after each run. It always contains the same file path. However, when I remove the file mentioned, it just gets replaced with another in the log next time, and it still stops at 96%. The files are also all playable, so I don't think it is crashing with particular files.

Would the music happen to be kept on a separate partition? This could be bug 370152.

I have separate root and home partitions, with my music on my home partition.

I have the same problem. I have a separate partition for my music files and it has a ntfs file system to be reachable from windoz. I have just installed kubuntu 9.10.
