Agreed, this should be an upstart job. I took a quick crack at that,
but it didn't work immediately.

As for the version, I'll append +0ubuntu1. Note that debuild doesn't
like -1build1-0ubuntu1, can't find the orig tarball properly. I think
this is a bug in the upstream packaging appending the -1build1.

Why do you want to keep the build1? That's an Ubuntu-local append to state
that it can be overridden on the next sync from Debian. I.e. after -1build1
there's -1ubuntu1, which is higher.

Right, it's not a version number we want to have. As I said, you
should have used -1ubuntu1 (drop the buildN stuff). But it's too late
now, the next upload can fix it.
