Bug Description
1.) The release of Ubuntu: Ubuntu 8.10 (32-bit version)
2.) The version of the package: gnome-panel , version 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu2.1
3.) Normally I (would like to) use the usual placement of the panels: the bottom panel and the top panel. I have been using these placements for about year.
4.) Few days ago it happened that after login into the GNOME desktop environment the panel which is normally on the top of the screen was moved on the left side of the screen (without my action or I at least do not know about any such my action). I can not find any clever way how to get the panel to its usual place. The panel is now fully packed with launchers (since the vertical size is significantly smaller than the horisontal size). Hence any my trial to grasp some panel configuration popup menu by right-mouse clicking fails; instead I always get popup menu of a launcher or "System" or "Places" etc. I even guess that there is no such a configuration option. (At least for the bottom panel I can not see such an option.)
See also the attached screenshot. I would also welcome an advice how to get the panel to its usual place. Thanks.

Thanks for looking at that; I have no idea how that happened (perhaps I somehow accidentally touched mouse or touchpad) but now I at least have the panel at its usual place.
(First I removed several icons from the panel thus gaining some free panel area. Then I was able to find that there is an option for changing the placement of the panel and I used the option. Then, of course, I placed the icons back to the panel.)
I am just afraid that a new PC user might be quite confused by such an accidental panel replacement.
